        1/4  cup softened butter
            1  egg
        3/4  cup sugar
        1/2  cup milk
    1-1/2  cup flour
            2  teaspoons baking powder
        1/2  teaspoon salt

    STREUSEL:
            2  tablespoons flour
        1/2  cup brown sugar
            2  teaspoons cinnamon

    TOPPING
            2  tablespoons melted butter
        1/2  cup chopped peanuts

    1.  In a bowl blend 1/4 cup butter, egg and sugar.  Mix in milk. 
    2.  Mix together in a separate bowl 1-1/2 cups flour, baking powder and salt.  Add flour mixture to butter mixture.  Beat vigorously until slightly lumpy. 
    3.  Pour 1/2 batter into a greased baking pan.  In a cup combine 2 tablespoons flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar and cinnamon.  Sprinkle half the streusel mixture evenly over batter, pressing it lightly into the batter.  Spread the remaining batter evenly over the streusel.  Then cover that layer with the remaining streusel. 
    4.  Combine peanuts with melted butter, and sprinkle on top.
    5.  Bake at 350F for 30 to 35 minutes.
    6.  Remove pan to a rack, let stand for 5 minutes.  Cut into portions.
    SERVES: 6
