Growing up I would often get two birthday cakes one from Mom decorated with a big ” happy birthday” in frosting, and a rhubarb cake from from my Grandma because it was my favorite. This is a close replica of Grandma’s (in taste) but does not compare to hers. Maybe because of the memories attached to it, or maybe because she would not have used a boxed cake mix. Read more… -

1 cup mayonnaise (not salad dressing)
1 cup buttermilk
1 package of dry ranch dip mix
Combine ingredients and refrigerate for a minimum of 1 hour
Serve with tortilla chips

4 Granny Smith Apples
2/3 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup water
1 cup old fashion oats
1 cup flour
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter softened / partly melted
1/4 cup water
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Wash, slice,core apples and arrange in a 2 quart baking dish.
Mix white sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, cinnamon together and sprinkle over the apples.
Poor 1/4 cup water over the apples evenly.
Mix the remaining dry ingredients together, then add the butter.
Crumble over the apples.
Poor 1/4 cup water evenly over the apples
Bake for 45 minutes. Serves 8
